Poison Dart

Starting from my heart,
Slipping through my soul,
The pain of being torn apart,
Escaping my lips is a silent howl.

I tried to keep it down,
Failed attempts of a mere sceptic,
Why did she make me a pawn?
A sacrifice that was hectic!

They say promises are to be broken,
Broken I am now that she has spoken,
Spoken her heart; has she a heart?
No she hasn't, there's but a poison dart!

She walks the streets aiming,
Awaiting her next Prince Charming,
How long will the next one last?
As long as it would please the lass.

Breaking hearts is her hobby,
Makes me wonder, will she ever be happy?
I repeat myself; has she a heart?
I'm sure she hasn't, there's just a poison dart!

10 Good Reasons to Start your own BLOG

Writing is something that has always fascinated me. Web logging could be considered as one of the modern forms of writing; it’d rather be more appropriate to use the term “publishing”. Although I’m new to blogging, it has given me ample pleasure and taught me many an important lesson. Hence I did a little research and came up with the ten most popular reasons to see if I could convince anyone to start their own blog.

01.  As a very good hobby
Blogging is an excellent hobby for those who enjoy spending their leisure in a creative manner. If you are blessed with some time to kill, then a blog is sure to provide you with the opportunity to make the most out of it! It is quite financially effortless as well since there are plenty of services such as blogspotweeblytublr and wordpress that are willing to host your blog free of charge. All you need is  a will to blog and a computer or a mobile device with an internet connection.

02. As a mode of self-expression
Expressing one’s own self is a must for any healthy human being. A blog is among the best ways to target a mass audience all over the world to share your thoughts and views and to get the feedback from your followers.

03.  As a way to create memories
You may post anything in your blog; from text to videos. You can write about your personal experiences and add graphical enhancement with colorful photography so that one day you will have the priceless pleasure of scrolling through your old posts; taking a happy walk down memory lane.

04.  To stay in touch with friends and family
A blog is a great way to connect with your folks. You may share media with friends and family instantly via a private or even a public blog.

05.  To Practice your creativity
Creativity is a gift. If you have it; you ought to preserve it with the right respect. Practice makes perfect; but the opposite of that is bound to happen if you lose touch. Blogging as a hobby is a wonderful way to harness your creativity.

06.  A way to share your knowledge
Most blogs are written with the motive of helping people. The knowledge you have gained through education and experience could be very useful to another person in need. Hence blogging could quench your thirst to help people.

07.  As a way to meet people like yourself
When you blog about your views and ideas, the people who follow your posts are definitely in favor of what they read. This gives you the amazing chance of meeting like-minded people who share your vision.

08.  To become an expert in a particular field
When you write investigative articles, you gain plenty of knowledge regarding a variety of things. Upon repetition of articles on a certain topic, you automatically become an expert in that field. This will benefit you in numerous ways.

09.  To market or promote something
As I said before, a blog is an effective method to get your views and ideas across the world. Hence it is easy to promote a cause or your visions. Further if you have a product to market, a professional blog could help your reach that goal.

10.   A platform to make some extra money
As you go on blogging, you would attract a reasonable traffic to your page at one point. Then it will be time for your blog to earn you some extra money; that is if you want it to. There are several programs such as Google’s adsense that pay you for an advertising space in your blog. However, one can hardly reach any success if he/she had pocketing some money as his/her primary target.

An Extract from my Diary

DEATH OF A LOVED ONE...

17th February 2012
Fridays fly… and so did this one! I woke up late and went to mosque. Soon after Jumma, I met my uncle Dilshad who was worried about his mother (My granny’s sister); I tried to comfort him, walked him home. At around 2pm, his younger brother; Mifrij; returned home from his work in a ship, after what felt like ages. I was so happy to see him. I had lunch at their place and we travelled to Kandy Hospital to visit my granny’s sister; we call her “Saachi”. She was one of the closest and kindest people to me. It had been 2 years since her surgery after diagnosis of cancer. She’d been very ill. After an hour and a half of travelling, we reached the hospital. Her eyes were yellow; she looked very pale and appeared to have lost a lot of weight. She was happy to see us; especially her younger son. I gently massaged her fore head and kissed on it before leaving.

20th February 2012
It was 4.30 in the morning when we got a call from Mifrij. He was wanted at the hospital. Mom and Dad got ready to accompany him. I was up too; I closed the door after them. It would barely have been 5 minutes after they left; I heard the return of our vehicle. A second call from the hospital had brought the bitter news that Saachi passed away :(. I was shocked at first. I just walked to her place at 5AM. Returned home shortly; punching walls didn’t seem to ease my pain. I didn’t cry much- I just sat there with my back against the wall. They retrieved her from the hospital at around 10.30 in the morning. All our families gathered. We buried her before Asar (i.e. around 4 in the evening). Life sucks when you lose a loved one. This was a new experience to me.

21st February 2012
A whole day has passed so fast! Everything feels like a dream! We came to know that Saachi passed away just before midnight but for some reason they hadn’t let us know earlier. I spent the whole day at Saachi’s place… well can’t use that name anymore can I? When death strikes someone you love, it really makes you look back and wonder if life is worth it! I did meet many friends and family- a family reunion (such irony). But life has to go on right?

22nd February 2012
3 days has it been; we all gathered at the funeral house; we recited Quran. I felt so hollow. Had I just known that last Friday was the last time I’d ever get to see her alive, I would’ve stayed a bit longer; spent more time with her :(. But well life is what happens when you are busy making other plans isn’t it? I told myself that I would spend as much time as possible with the people I love.

I learnt many important life lessons during that week. I saw the importance of being socially active, I saw how crucial it is to have friends and family; shoulders to lean on when you are in need. I hope you gained something as well and that something is that you should always find time to spend with your loved ones and lead a regret-free life.

Is December 21st, 2012 the Last Day for Mankind?

Without any doubt, the 21st of December 2012 being the doomsday is a viral belief that has been plaguing us for the last few months. It prompted me to research, read plenty of mainstream articles that either supported or opposed this idea. Hence I thought I'd share my views on the same topic.

As we know, this is not the first time that we have heard of a doomsday prediction. Throughout history, numerous rumors regarding the apocalypse had been erupting through time and time and quite precisely, we have survived every single one of them. However, the believers of this prediction claim this one to be different from the rest pointing out that the long count of the Mayans calendar concludes on the 21st December 2012 and that marks a reset of the Earth. It is also a well observed fact that the ancient Mayans had been excellent scientists and astronomers who correctly predicted every eclipse, solar and lunar so far and is still currently correct on the ones to come.

Alejandro Cirilo Perez Oxlaj is a modern day living Mayan shaman and the appointed representative of 440 modern day Mayan tribes. He has recently said “We are now in the window of the end of time”. Also he went on to highlight the numerous changes and the culmination of the predicted events that are manifesting.  The shaman also says that the more wars, the more chemicals, the more nuclear testing and the more we heat the Earth makes it more imminent that Mother Earth is going to strike back with millions of lives lost. This is a fair statement as far as the environmental Biologists who believe in the Gaia hypothesis are concerned. Gaia hypothesis states that the Earth is a self-evolving being.

With all these being stated, we cannot deny the abnormally huge number of earthquakes and other natural disasters that had been striking us in the past few months. Such catastrophes had been reported even in areas that had never been threatened ever before. However, all these speculations are merely a prediction, theoretical and are not based on Science or steady facts.

According to the article published on the official site of NASA; 2012: Beginning of the end or why the world won’tend, the idea of the apocalypse in 2012 is a mere internet hoax. Many websites publish fake content to exaggerate this speculation in order to attract more readers and hence more website traffic. According to them, the end of the 5, 125-year old long count of the Mayan calendar is no different from the end of an ordinary calendar that hangs on the kitchen wall. The article goes on to explain the hoax being originated with the theory featuring a dwarf planet called Nibiru or Planet-X that was supposedly expected to hit the Earth back in 2003, and since it didn’t, the prediction year was moved forth to 2012.

The article also stated that the Earth had always been subject to impacts by comets and asteroids, although big hits are very rare and that the last big impact was 65 million years ago which lead to the extinction of primitive reptiles such as the dinosaurs. NASA monitors all planetary motions and threats that could come our way 24/7 and there is no proof that there are any celestial threats for the world in the near future.  And even if a planet or a comet is to hit the Earth before the fall of 2012, it will be very well visible to the naked eye at this point. Hence the scientists at NASA guaranteed the safety of the Earth.

I for one strongly believe that there are supernatural events that are beyond the limits science could reach. However, based on analysis of the information I've gathered thus far, I believe the scientists are right on  this one. Further, all these occurring could easily be merely coincidental and also I don't want the world to end yet :D

The Breakthrough...

When I dream, I dream high,
I won’t lie, nor do I try,
Living on my own, my own rules,
That’s my motto, not meant for fools!

My life is a Russian roulette,
I run the show; I’m my own pilot,
With each turn, I take my chances,
Dodging bullets, my life advances!

One of these days, I’m gonna rise up high,
Breaking the blocks, I won’t be shy,
Moving past my hollow heart,
Cruising fast to correct my past!

Oh my past; it ain’t gonna last,
When I reach my goal, that’s so vast,
Living on my own, my very own rules,
That’s my motto, not meant for fools!

CONTINUITY: A Must

As in the case of most tasks I've undertaken in my life thus far, I did not fail to apply my special private touch of ceasing to continue and conclude with success what I initiate, to this blog as well; lol. It is such a personal cliche of mine that I just have to mess it up, grrr and I think its time I walk past that. Hence I thought of writing something, publishing something here on my blog simply to denote that it still has some life and hope left in it.

Skimming through the internet, I came across quite a few articles that focus on the characteristics of successful people. Standing out among the pile of amazing qualities of these wonderful individuals who went on to succeed in their lives and hence leave an eternal residue of their achievements in history that sings their praise even after decades or centuries of their demise, is continuity. It is as important as other outstanding attributes such as time management, punctuality, honesty etc...

To be honest, reading those articles is the very reason why I thought of writing this here, perhaps as a note to self to remind me that I should never leave dead ends untied. To all those whose attention am lucky enough to attract, well do take this advice; finish what you started!

Awaiting Your Return

Deep within my heart, I feel a pain,
The pain of solitude, in love there is no gain,
No gain when you miss the other,
The other; she has made my heart wither!

Here I am, sitting alone,
Secluded from the love that I own,
Awaiting your return is my lonely heart,
Beating slowly with sorrow, for each a heart ache!

Seconds pass as minutes; minutes as hours,
Even the night is so dull which once was ours,
Of course time is bound to take its time…
Why am I being punished, is love a crime?

No matter how long, let it take many a year,
I would still be waiting for you; right here,
For the love that we share is so strong,
Stronger than anything that could go wrong!

I dedicate these words to many a lonely heart out there missing their loved ones on this magical eve of love...

YOGA: An Effective Substitute for Modern Medicine

Today we dwell in an era of Science which had reached its many levels of success and still is growing, breaking the limits. Almost everything around us has a scientific explanation; this is the general idea. Medicine is a crucial branch of biological science that has proved to be of utmost importance for the continuity of life. With the advancement of medical science, man’s life span increased dramatically enhancing life further. When we say medicine, the first things that flash before our eyes probably are pills, vaccines and other aspects of modern medicine. However, the influence of newer ways of remedy is so high that it overshadows the older; traditional modes of medicine. People always tend to go for the advanced technologies considering the Celtic modes less efficient. It is to emphasize on the importance and unbelievable abilities of such alternative modes of medicine that I decided to write this article.

A close acquaintance of mine is a licensed practitioner of yoga for medical purposes with an experience of over 30 years in this field. It is his success that inspired me to spread the knowledge I’ve gained in this field. I neared him in the idea of gaining a more stable idea of the fundamentals of yoga and the extent of its application. When asked what diseases can be directly cured through yoga, I was impressed by Dr. Manohar’s answer; “It is easier to answer had you asked about those diseases that cannot be confronted and cured through yoga”. He said yoga holds a cure for almost every disease associated with the human body. I went on to question him regarding yoga as follows;

Q: What is the base of yoga for medicine?

A: Breathing is the base of yoga. Upon diagnosis of a disease, I choose the relevant asana (postures) that hold the cure for that particular patient. A session of treatment may contain a combination of such postures and a rhythmic repetition of the same. The expertise comes into effect in selecting the relevant asana from the thousands known to mankind and instructing the patient to perform them in a stepwise manner.

Q: What is the importance of a guide for yoga?

A: An instructor is crucial when it comes to practicing yoga; especially for medical purposes. An incorrect or imbalanced asana may result in brain damage or even in death of a person since almost every asana in yoga are associated with the functioning of the brain.

Q: What do you consider is the most successful event as far as your career is concerned?

A: About ten years ago a case of breast cancer challenged me. The patient was a lady in her late fifties. Her breast cancer had forced the removal of one of her breasts leaving unhealed wounds behind. The mere sight was horrifying. The doctors and experts had announced her lifetime to be 12 months the most after the surgery since she was experiencing the last stages of the deadly disease. I took up the challenge; it was my first such case. After consistent yoga training for one month along with the help of certain herbal medications, I was able to completely recover her from the disease; making her entirely cancer free. I consider this the greatest success of my career.

Q: Who and what stages of a disease can be cured through yoga?

A: Anyone of any age can be treated with yoga if proper care is given. I believe any stage of a disease can be confronted with yoga. However, the earlier the diagnosis, easier the treatment shall be. Any disease is best when nipped in the bud.

Q: What other diseases have you successfully cured using alternative medicine?

A: The most commonly treated disease through yoga is appendicitis. I can cure a patient with appendicitis within a maximum of 2 days. The only cure for this in modern medicine is a surgery to remove human appendix. The result and effect of a surgery may last for at least a month. Consequences may include mandatory bed rest of a minimal of 2 weeks after the surgery and unnecessary pain. But a patient treated with yoga has to undergo no surgery; no hard exercises. It is merely a delicate process that will completely return the patient to normal instantly after the cure.
Apart from these, I’ve successfully confronted Arthritis, tumors, diabetes, high cholesterol, even leukemia and many more.

Q: Can yoga be applied to cure mental ailments too?

A: Of course it can; there are certain asana in yoga that stimulates the inner mind of a patient. Scientifically this act is known as DRT (Deep Relaxation Technique). A patient performing postures relevant for DRT shall fall into self-hypnotism followed by hypnotism. At this stage, we can easily influence his inner mind, finding and solving psychological issues with ease.

Q: Where does yoga stand today?

A: Just like modern medicine, yoga too has its own research centers. Many a researches are conducted by yoga experts and new updates are released annually. There are researches for finding cure even for deadly diseases such as AIDS.

Q: What advantages does yoga possess over modern medicine?

A: Well, certain diseases are easier to be cured through modern medicine. In more complex cases, yoga provides a more relaxing method of cure. For instance, as I mentioned before, appendicitis requires a painful operation to be done in the bowel region. Curing this via yoga consumes only two days with not even a single cut or blood loss. In modern medicine, certain disease cannot be confronted once it reaches a critical stage. But I believe there is no such thing in yoga. A patient in almost any stage can be cured with proper guidance and practice. However, the role of modern medicine too is important in the diagnosis of disease. Unlike in ancient times, today we apply the use of modern equipment to ensure our diagnosis for the safety of the patients. Hence it is safe to say that yoga and modern medicine are closely associated in the present era.

A new sense of respect towards alternative medicinal methods; especially yoga grew within me after this short interview. I was moved further when I saw the video footage of a patient who spoke at a program conducted by Dr. Manohar titled “Yoga for Health”. The translation of his exact words is as follows;

“A pain in the pit of my stomach started to show up when I was at the age of 21. I failed to undergo medical attention. Week after week, the pain grew stronger; yet I neglected it. Weeks became months and months, years. I was forced to seek medical attention. Even after undergoing many a medical test, the doctors were unable to diagnose my problem. It was at the age of 41 that they managed to figure out my disease: a part of my small intestine was sore and remanded removal to avoid it becoming a cancer and the doctors advised me to get ready for an immediate surgery. I was too poor to sum up the money required for this purpose which in turn delayed my cure. It is during this time that I came to know of Dr. Manohar. Willing to take my chances, I went for his help. After merely three sessions of yoga training, here I am before you; fully cured with not a trace of my illness…”

That was all the evidence I needed to believe in yoga. As I said before, many of us are reluctant to go for alternative medicine. This is unfortunate for yoga holds better cure than modern medicine for many cases. This does not mean yoga is better; but it merely emphasizes that yoga too is a reliable option for patients of many diseases. I hope this article served its purpose as an eye opener. Effective Creative Writing Tips

Writing is a mode of self-expression like art, speech and music. As a human being, anyone is blessed with this skill; yet most of us are reluctant to express ourselves using this mode of communication. Creative writing precisely is overrated among us; of them, students are the most abundant. For instance, if we take a class of forty students, only a maximum of around five or less will be rated as “writers”. The others; in most cases; tend to replicate those “specialists’” work when it comes to project or thesis submission. Sadly they fail to acknowledge the fact that they too are gifted with the same capabilities yet they are just too clumsy to put their skills to better use.

My aim here is to share what I personally believe is a better way of molding ones thoughts into a readable format so that the exact replica of his thoughts are conveyed to the readers. This article will walk you through a short course which I hope will be fruitful to you and help you sharpen your existing abilities.

SKETCH A MIND MAP

“Failing to plan is planning to fail” is a famous quotation that eloquently explains this section in a nut shell. Yes, once a topic is given to a writer, building a stepwise mental map of the contents that are to be published under that topic is a must. For instance, consider an essay about “The Advantages and Disadvantages of the Internet”. A mind map to such an essay may be as follows;

i.     Introduction to computers and the internet.
ii.    The influence of the internet on the world in general.
iii.  The advantages of the internet.
iv.   The disadvantages of the internet.
v.    Conclusion.

Building such a map would narrow down the topic into smaller sections making it easier to achieve a better perception of the contents. A writer shall organize every topic in separate paragraphs for further clarity.

CONTENTS

Finding contents under any topic is not a difficult task. But organizing it in an effective manner may be extremely tricky. A professional writer should always verify the source of his information. Double checking this will maintain the quality of your work. It is mandatory that the writer mixes his contents up in a way so as not to bore the readers and make sure he/she stay focused on exactly what you want them to be throughout the article. It is advisable to in cooperate a certain degree of humor in your article now and then while being witty and making sure your main idea is well conveyed. Addition of quotes relevant to topic under consideration too is another effective way to spice things up and gain the readers focus.

PRESENTATION

One may have quality content and a well-planned scenario to publish his article in and yet manage to screw things up without the relevant presentation. Presentation involves the way the writer approaches his audience. Every writer should develop his/her own unique style of writing. Depending on the expectations of the topic and the density of readers, a writer should mix up the standard of his/her terminology; while maintaining the simplicity of the language. For an article to be praised as “well written” it should not only be of high quality, but also be easily understandable. Further the entire article should run in a steady flow. That is, there should always be a connection between the consecutive sentences and those paragraphs. Further, repetition of the same fact over and over again, beating unnecessarily around the bush most likely is bound to inflict boredom into any reader’s mind. Failing to organize these aspects will again make the readers lose their focus.

FINISHING

Even an article of highest possible quality may end up a failure when the finishing is not professional enough. In my opinion, it is best that an essay ends with a relevant conclusion that sums up the entire topic in focus. Presenting the gist of the article in a formidable manner will leave a permanent mark in the readers’ minds; make them think over a message well conveyed which, after all, is the motive of writing.

Thus written articles should be well reviewed before being made available to the readers. This will always give the writer a second chance to fine tune his writing for nothing is perfect and there is always plenty of room for improvement.

I hope this small piece of my mind proved to be helpful to at least a slight degree to all of you who cared to read. Please leave your comments below to help me enhance my writing.
